10 brilliant events for Bookbug Week 2014
Bookbug Week is just around the corner (19-25 May). To help celebrate Bookbug’s Big Sports Day, there are lots of song, story and rhyme events happening across Scotland. You can find out what’s happening in your area by using our event search, but in the meantime, we’ve highlighted just a few of the fantastic free events on offer below.
Vivian French in East Dunbartonshire Libraries
Best-selling and award-winning author Vivian French will be appearing at the Westerton and Bishopriggs Libraries in East Dunbartonshire. Vivian is the author of over 200 works of fiction, non-fiction and poetry books, including Yucky Worms, Oliver’s Vegetables and The Tales from the Five Kingdoms series. Her event is sure to be full of entertainment and delight!
Mini gym and Bookbug Sessions in Dundee
Dig out your workout gear and warmed up! Mini gym and Bookbug Sessions will be taking place at the Douglas Sports Centre in Dundee on Wednesday 21st May and at the Lynch Sports Centre on Thursday 22nd May.
Shetland Family Roadshow in Yell
Bookbug will be the star of the Shetland Family Roadshow at the Yell Leisure Centre. The Roadshow will give children the chance to enjoy a Bookbug Session and a variety of other exciting play activities. Parents will also be able to get more information about local services.
Gruffalo Trail at Overton Park

Sports Day Obstacle course in Dumfries and Galloway
Toddlympics at the HamiltonTownhouse Library
Limber up and get ready for the Toddlympics. Children and adults alike are encouraged to get on their feet and join in at the Hamilton Townhouse Library.
Bookbug’s Big Sports Day at the Citadel Leisure Centre
Jump, run and join in the fun for Bookbug’s Big Sports Day at Citadel Leisure Centre in Ayr.
Bookbug Session at Lewisvale Park
Dress up in your sportiest outfit and head along to Lewisvale Park for fun with songs, stories and rhymes. Little ones can also add their handprint to a map of the Commonwealth Baton Relay Route. You can also add your handprints to a Bookbug Certificate to take home as a memento of taking part in the day.
Bookbug Marathon at Moredun Library
Bookbug will be taking over Moredun Library for a special bumper Bookbug Session of stories, songs and rhymes.
Bookbug’s Fittest at McLean Museum
Head along to the McLean Museum for a bumper Bookbug Session with toddler taster gymnastics.
