Get Writing with Book Week Scotland
Though Book Week Scotland will be hosting over 500 bookish events all across the country from 25 November to 1 December, there are more ways than that to get involved this Book Week!
If you love writing, there are plenty of ways to get your pen out and get scribbling during Book Week Scotland.
If writing workshops are your thing, there are plenty happening all over the country. From creative writing, to getting started in publishing, to book pitching, to quilting, there is a workshop for everyone this Book Week!
You can see the full listing of writing workshops and find one in your area here.
Additionally, if you’d rather pen a story than listen to one, there are several writing competitions running during Book Week that you can get involved in!
Glasgow Women’s Library are running their now annual ‘Dragon’s Pen’ competition where four writers go head to head in front of an audience and panel and receive feedback on their work. You can submit either a story or a poem and 4 from each category will be chosen as the shortlist for the event. At the end of the event, one story and one poem will be chosen as the winner and published on the Glasgow Women’s Library website! Submissions for this competition are open until November 15 , and full submission details are available here.
On the Scottish Book Trust website, a special Book Week Scotland edition of the Fifty Word Fiction competition will be running during the week. Stay tuned to this page for full details on how and when to enter!
