Book Week Scotland 2012
Book Week Scotland, Scotland's first national celebration of books and reading, took place from 26 November to 2 December 2012. Over 350 fantastic events for all ages were held throughout the week all across the country and included The Reading Hour on St Andrew's Day, a day-long pop-up festival at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow, talks and readings by famous authors, and a special Authors Live Poetry Slam, which was broadcast live to all secondary schools in Scotland. The week also saw the publication of the My Favourite Place book, a tribute to Scotland's best-loved places made up of stories from people all around Scotland. 150,000 copies of the book were given away free throughout Scotland during the week.
