Book Week Scotland 2012

Book Week Scotland, Scotland's first national celebration of books and reading, took place from 26 November to 2 December 2012. Over 350 fantastic events for all ages were held throughout the week all across the country and included The Reading Hour on St Andrew's Day, a day-long pop-up festival at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow, talks and readings by famous authors, and a special Authors Live Poetry Slam, which was broadcast live to all secondary schools in Scotland. The week also saw the publication of the My Favourite Place book, a tribute to Scotland's best-loved places made up of stories from people all around Scotland. 150,000 copies of the book were given away free throughout Scotland during the week.

The League

Our League of Extraordinary Booklovers - a team of reading-mad volunteers aged from five to 75 - was on hand to make reading recommendations, and thousands of copies of My Favourite Place, featuring stories from the public as well as celebrated writers, were distributed all over Scotland.
