The Scottish Book Trust Early Years Programme provides a range of free book packs for every child in Scotland from birth to Primary 1.

Bookbug BabyFor babies in their first year The Bookbug Baby pack is a fantastic introduction to sharing books with childen from birth. The pack includes; 2 sturdy board books, a CD of songs and nursery rhymes, 1 buggy book, 1 Play Talk Read DVD, a Bookbug Baby's calendar and a form for parents to sign up for Bookbug alerts all held within a strong canvas bag. Please note that the canvas bag is for parents and is not suitable for babies to use unattended. |
Bookbug ToddlerFor toddlers aged 13-24 months The Bookbug Toddler pack aims to boost a child's language and listening skills with fun, engaging books and materials. The Bookbug Toddler pack includes: two beautiful books, a drawing pad, eight jumbo crayons, a Bookbug alert form and a parents’ guide full of tips and ideas on sharing books with toddlers. Please note that the canvas bag is for parents and is not suitable for babies and toddlers to use unattended. |

Bookbug PirateFor children in their ante pre-school year The Pirate pack builds on the book sharing message of the first two packs. Every little pirate in Scotland will receive a small canvas bag full of exciting pirate themed contents, including a pack of brightly coloured pencils, a set of postcards which can be used to tell friends and family about their adventures on the high seas, an All About Me drawing and activity pad and 2 beautifully illustrated picture books! |
P1 BookDuring their first year at primary school, all children in Scotland will receive a free Bookbug Primary 1 Family Pack with a message from Bookbug. The pack contains the three shortlisted books in the Bookbug Readers Category of the Scottish Children's Book Awards, an activity pack linking to the three books and a brand new story in Scots. |

Gaelic and Dual-Language BooksGaelic Bookbug packs are now available for children growing up in Gaelic-speaking homes. Scottish Book Trust is working in partnership with Bòrd na Gàidhlig to provide free Gaelic books to 4,500 Gaelic-speaking families from across Scotland. |
