Overview

In Aberdeenshire the Bookbug programme is co-ordinated by Aberdeenshire Library & Information Service (ALIS), and supported by Aberdeenshire Community Health Partnership and Aberdeenshire Council Education Department.

Bookbug Pack Gifting

Bookbug Baby and Bookbug Toddler packs are gifted to parents by health visitors.

The Bookbug Pirate pack for 3 year olds is gifted in early years settings.

All Aberdeenshire libraries also hold a small stock of Bookbug packs which can be gifted to any child who has not received one at the appropriate health check.

Bookbug’s Library Challenge

Bookbug’s Library Challenge is a library joining incentive for the under 5s, which is run annually for a fixed period in every public library in Aberdeenshire. Families can sign their children up to the Challenge free of charge,  and the child will receive stickers and certificates when visiting the library. The child who collects the most certificates in each library will receive a prize!

Bookbug Sessions

Aberdeenshire libraries also offer special Bookbug sessions, where stories, rhymes and songs are shared, for families and pre-school groups. Visit the Aberdeenshire Council website for more information.
