Bookbug is led by East Renfrewshire’s Arts, Learning and Libraries service and supported by our Health Visitors, Early Years Establishments, and staff in the Registration service. Those involved are enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated to promoting and supporting the programme.
Bookbug Pack Gifting
Bookbug Baby and Toddler packs are gifted by Health Visitors at check up times. If for any reason you have not received your pack please contact your nearest community library who will be happy to help.
The Bookbug Pirate pack is gifted to three year olds by nurseries and family centres, usually at induction.
The Bookbug P1 Family pack is gifted to all primary one children at gifting sessions delivered in libraries, or in schools with the support of library staff.
Gaelic Bookbug Baby and Toddler packs are available on request by contacting East Renfrewshire’s Bookbug Co-ordinator, contact details below.
Bookbug's Library Challenge
Bookbug’s Library Challenge for children from birth to 4 years runs all year round in every East Renfrewshire Library. Children earn stickers by borrowing books on their very own library card, or by attending Bookbug Sessions. It’s great fun, who doesn’t love a sticker, and when they have collected 6 stickers on their card they are rewarded with a certificate. There are lots of beautifully illustrated certificates to collect so there’s always an incentive to keep going.
Bookbug Sessions are free and take place in eight community libraries and in Eastwood Park Theatre on a regular basis. While you are having fun singing songs, sharing rhymes and listening to stories you can be confident you are also building your child’s social and emotional development and boosting their language skills. All East Renfrewshire sessions are led by fully trained Bookbug Session Leaders and many are held on Saturday mornings to enable working parents and families to attend. You can find details of dates and times here.
For accessibility information, please contact your local Bookbug Coordinator or see your local authority website.
