Overview

Edinburgh City Libraries are committed to promoting the sharing and enjoyment of books with babies and families throughout Edinburgh. To support this, we deliver many events in our branches as well as in many outreach venues.

Working with partners in the NHS, Children and Families Department and also community organisations, we deliver thousands of Bookbug packs to babies, toddlers and their families throughout Edinburgh each year.

Bookbug Bag Gifting

The Bookbug Baby bag is gifted to parents by Health Visitors

The Bookbug Toddler bag is gifted by health visitors and is also available in some libraries.

The Bookbug Explorer bag is gifted at the age of 3 by early years settings.

Bookbug’s Library Challenge

Bookbug’s Library Challenge is available in all libraries across Edinburgh, for all children aged between birth to four. Just pop into your local library, join your child up (you’re never too young to join!) and start collecting the special stickers and beautiful certificates!

Bookbug Sessions

The aim of our free Bookbug Sessions, for children aged birth to four and their parents,  is sharing, fun and enjoyment! Our sessions are interactive – everybody joins in! We come with a choice of songs and rhymes but parents and carers are welcome to bring recommendations. Click here for more information
