Overview

Bookbug (formerly known as Bookstart) was introduced to Falkirk Council in 1999, and is delivered by Education Services, in partnership with Education professionals, Falkirk Community Trust libraries and Health Visitors.

Bookbug Pack Gifting

Bookbug in Falkirk gift our packs via Health Visitors, nurseries, family centres, libraries and specialist support groups.

Gaelic packs are available via the Bookbug co-ordinator.

Baby and Toddler packs are gifted by health visitors during the child’s health check and/or immunisations.

The Pirate packs are delivered to nurseries, nursery classes and playgroups.  All packs can be collected from Falkirk Community Trust libraries if your child does not attend the health visitor or nursery.

The P1 Family packs are delivered via our primary schools and home educators can contact the Bookbug co-ordinator for a pack.

Bookbug's Library Challenge

Bookbug's Library Challenge is a library joining incentive for children aged birth to four years. It is available in most Falkirk Community Trust libraries and on the mobile library. All you need to do is:

-          Register your baby or child as a library borrower

-          Pick up your Bookbug collector's card

-          Get your card stamped each time you visit the library

-          Swap six stamps for a limited edition certificate.

Bookbug Sessions

Bookbug Sessions (also known as Bounce & Tickle for babies) are all about singing songs, sharing books and nursery rhymes and having fun.   The free sessions are held at all our full-time libraries and are suitable for babies and their parents.

Toddle Round – When babies and toddlers find their feet, they want to move! At Toddle Round we have more active rhymes that the toddlers move and dance to, then they are happy to sit for a wee story. The noisy rhymes, songs and storytelling using lots of gestures and facial expressions, which toddlers experience during Toddle Round sessions, strengthens their early communication and socialisation skills.

Public libraries also offer storytelling sessions, school holiday activities and much more. Please check out the website for more information.
