Glasgow LibrariesOverview

Bookbug in Glasgow is managed by Glasgow Libraries.

Bookbug Bag Gifting

The Bookbug Baby Bags are distributed to parents by their Health Visitor at the 6 – 16 week check.

The Bookbug Toddler Bags are distributed to parents via a number of gifting routes, including through health partners, libraries, parent and toddler groups and family learning centres.

The Bookbug Explorer Bags are distributed to 3 year olds through nurseries, playgroups and early year’s settings, in partnership with early years professionals.

Bookbug’s Library Challenge

Bookbug's Library Challenge, a free programme where all pre-5 children can collect a selection of lovely limited edition certificates in return for borrowing books from the library. This takes place in all libraries throughout Glasgow.  Each child is given their own Bookbug's Library Challenge collector card and each time they visit the library to borrow a book they receive a stamp on their card. When their card is complete they will receive a beautifully illusrated certificate.

Bookbug Sessions

Within Glasgow, free Bounce and Rhyme sessions (similar to Bookbug Sessions) are held in libraries across the authority.  These sessions are fun, free events for children aged birth to four and their parents, incorporating songs, rhymes, books and play. Find a list of upcoming Bounce and Rhymes Sessions on the Glasgow Life website.

Bookbug Sessions run in parts of South Glasgow and in a number of shopping centres.
