Perth & Kinross

Culture Perth and Kinross logo

Bookbug is well established in Perth and Kinross. Libraries, health staff and nurseries, as well as many other partners, work together to try to make sure that all families get their Bookbug packs.  They all believe in the simple message of Bookbug: sharing books, rhymes and songs with babies and young children brings enormous benefits educationally, socially, culturally and emotionally. And above all it is fun!

Bookbug Pack Gifting

There are three fantastic free packs of books for all birth-3 year olds in Perth and Kinross:

  • Bookbug  baby bag for young babies (given out by health visitors)
  • Bookbug Toddler bag  for toddlers (given out by health visitors)
  • Bookbug Pirate Pack for 3 year olds (given out at nurseries and libraries)

Bookbug’s Library Challenge

Bookbug’s Library Challenge is a fun reward scheme in which preschool children collect stickers to gain beautifully illustrated certificates. It is run all year round in all libraries, including the mobile libraries. Our libraries welcome babies as soon as they are born and provide a fantastic resource of board books and picture books as well as parenting information for carers.

Bookbug Sessions

Bookbug sessions are free, friendly, fun sessions of songs, rhymes and stories for babies and toddlers and their parents or carers. They take place in libraries and other venues all over Perth and Kinross. Come along and join in with old favourites and learn some new ones.
