Overview

Bookbug in Scottish Borders is administered and delivered by Scottish Borders Libraries and Information Service, in partnership with Health Visitors and the Council’s Early Years section within Education and Lifelong Learning.

Bookbug Pack Gifting

Health Visitors gift the Bookbug Baby pack at the 4 month health check (approx)

Health Visitors gift the Bookbug Toddler packs at health checks between 12-24 months.

Both packs are also stored in libraries where parents who miss out can collect them.

Pirate packs are gifted to three year olds at pre-school venues.

Bookbug in Scottish Borders also produces a Baby Rhymes booklet, which is distributed free via library, community and health venues.

Bookbug’s Library Challenge

Bookbug’s Library Challenge, a fun free programme for children aged birth to four, runs in all library branches across Scottish Borders.  Join your child up today and they will receive stickers and certificates in return for making a trip to the library.

Bookbug Sessions

Bookbug Sessions currently run in 11 out of 12 branch libraries, led by both library and health staff.  Materials purchased to enhance these sessions include puppets, baby musical instruments, fabrics, books and dolls.

Special Bookbug Sessions are organised for special events and for other groups where appropriate. Visit Scottish Borders Council website for more information.
