West Lothian has a growing population of approximately 2300 new babies born every year and the aim is to give every baby, toddler and 3 year old a free Bookbug baby pack to encourage a lifelong love of books.
Bookbug in West Lothian works in partnership with Education Library Services, Health and Sure Start.
Bookbug Pack Gifting
The Bookbug Baby pack is gifted to parents before their child is a year old, by health visitors.
The Bookbug Toddler pack is gifted to parents at the MMR Immunisation.
The Bookbug Pirate pack is gifted by Nursery and Early Years Settings to every three year old.
If you have not yet received any of the above packs then they can be collected at your local library or by contacting the Early Years Local Area Co-ordinator.
The Bookbug Co-ordinator holds Bookbug Sessions [formerly known as Bounce and Tickle] at your local library. These fun, free these last about 30 minutes and encourage parents/carers to join in songs, rhymes and stories with their babies and preschool children. The Bookbug sessions are fun and help to develop social and language skills as well as a chance to meet others. The events are free and dates and venues can be found by visiting the council website below.
For accessibility information, please contact your local Bookbug Coordinator or see your local authority website.
