You Choose

You Choose is an exciting book –like the Dad in the video says – it can be different every time you share it. The family have a great time chatting through different pages. He uses the book as an opportunity to engage his sons with new words by following their interests and giving them the word for the picture they choose. It’s a great way to boost children’s language in a fun, practical and engaging way.

At several points, Dad refers back to what things they have talked about earlier, or he links the book to the children’s experiences - this can really help children develop their thinking and reasoning skills.

Even during an active story time, the family in this video really enjoy looking through the book and talking about what they would like. It’s a great way to build family relationships and give children a chance to share their opinions. There are lots of ways to share this book – just remember that there is no right or wrong way.
