Bookbug speaks Gaelic too!
Gaelic Bookbug packs are now available for children growing up in Gaelic-speaking homes. Scottish Book Trust is working in partnership with Bòrd na Gàidhlig to provide free Gaelic books to 4,500 Gaelic-speaking families from March 2013 onwards.
These packs contain Gaelic translations of the books that you find in your regular Bookbug packs*. There is also useful information from Bòrd na Gàidhlig for parents who want to share Gaelic with their children.
Gaelic Bookbug packs are available in the following local authorities and by request in other areas of Scotland:
Aberdeen, Angus, Argyll & Bute, East Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Highland, Inverclyde, North Lanarkshire, Perth & Kinross, South Lanarkshire, Stirling, Western Isles (Comhairle nan Eilean Siar)

Gaelic Bookbug Baby – distributed via your local Bookbug Co-ordinator and/or Bòrd na Gàidhlig Early Years Worker
Gaelic Bookbug Toddler – distributed via your local Bookbug Co-ordinator and/or Bòrd na Gàidhlig Early Years Worker
Gaelic Bookbug Pirate – 3-year-old children in Gaelic Medium Education will receive their Gaelic Bookbug Pirate Pack from nursery
Gaelic Bookbug Primary 1 Family Pack - primary 1 children in Gaelic Medium Education will receive the pack from April 2013

Bòrd na Gàidhlig
Bòrd na Gàidhlig works to promote Gaelic and strives in partnership with the Scottish Government, the people of Scotland and the Gaelic organisations to improve the status of the language. Bookbug gratefully acknowledges funding from Bòrd na Gàidhlig towards the Gaelic Bookbug packs.
If you would like to learn Gaelic or are interested in Gaelic for your child look out for groups in your area where you can learn together through singing, fun and play.
Useful websites and support for Gaelic-speaking families
www.Gaelic4parents.com provides support for parents of children in Gaelic Medium Education. Parents can listen to songs and stories in Gaelic, print materials and speak with an advisor.

Dual Language Books
At present, we are unable to provide dual language books in the Bookbug Packs. However, if you are interested in purchasing books in other languages, we would recommend trying Mantra Lingua - This website has a fantastic range of well-known and undiscovered titles in 52 different languages.
You can also ask your local library whether they stock bilingual titles or books in other languages.
