Case Study: Inspiring Poetry Across the School

In March 2014 the Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour with James Carter visited schools in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire. Primary teachers Claire Kavanagh and Eileen Moncrieff used this opportunity to create some excellent class plans and projects.

By using James Carter's poetry and books as a stimulus, Eileen created a fantastic three-lesson plan to inspire the pupils to dicuss, write and share their own work.

Claire organised a pupil forum for reading and working together on poetry, where every class from P1-P7 had a representative. They had amazing modrock models of James's poems, a performance of 'What did you do at school today?' by P3 and a colourful and exciting display of poems from across the whole school.

James's Music Meets Poetry event was very well received by pupils and teachers alike - have a look below at our event photos and feedback.
