Case Study Package: Getting Started in Poetry
In July 2017, poet and literary critic Theresa Munoz visited secondary schools in Teesside, Middlesbrough and Darlington on the Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour.
Theresa's poetry explores her experience of migration, moving from Canada to Scotland, but also responds to her experience of modern technology and social media. Her poems are the perfect way to show your pupils that poetry can be exciting and relevant to them. The pupils at Our Lady and St Bede Academy certainly thought so, and you can read Mia and Maisie's thoughts on the event below.
You can also discover learning resources inspired by Theresa's poetry, watch Theresa's video with five top tips for getting started in poetry and read poetry written by pupils and shared on social media.
