Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour with Julia Donaldson

In March 2018, the Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour took the former Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson back on the road as part of our 20th Anniversary Tour celebrations.

Over an action-packed week Julia visited 6 libraries and saw P3-4 pupils from 34 schools from Dundee, Stirling, Glasgow, the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway.

In these wonderfully interactive events, pupils from 16 schools performed their own picture book plays and adaptions to Julia. All had worked incredibly hard in the run up to the event, and it was great to see pupils engaging with books in such varied and creative ways. From space rockets, to puppet poetry, to pancake dances, to superhero fruit and veg, we saw a wonderful variety of plays across the week! To find out more about the school performances, explore our picture gallery below.

You can also enjoy a sneak peek at Julia's performance of The Magic Paintbrush with pupils from Holywood Primary School and Lochside Primary School and find out Julia's favourite character she has created and why in an interview by VOMO Radio, as well as a host of exciting learning resources inspired by Julia's books!
