Heritage Awareness Day with Lari Don

Join fantastic author and story-teller, Lari Don, for a magical event at Stirling Castle to celebrate Heritage Awareness Day on 20 September.

Lari Don Event

20 September is Heritage Awareness Day in Scotland, to celebrate we've teamed up with Historic Environment Scotland to create an immersive day of activities for your pupils. The day will take place at the incredible Stirling Castle with the event in the morning being held in the Green Room where the public are not normally allowed to enter!

In the morning story-teller extraordinaire, Lari Don, will bring the past to life for your pupils in an event packed full of spell-binding folklore. Lari will be telling stories that have probably been told across the generations of inhabitants of the castle, stories that are so steeped in history and magic that people in the past may not have been able to tell truth from fairytale.

As well as sharing her stories Lari will also show your pupils how to get creative and reimagine stories themselves. Lari's events are creative, interactive and inspiring and feed into the oral heritage of our country!

In the afternoon Historic Environment Scotland will lead a tour of Stirling castle for schools to find out more about the history of the famous site and the secrets the castle contains. Your pupils will go back to school bursting with stories!

Successful schools are able to apply for a travel bursary from Historic Environment Scotland. Travel bursaries can cover up to 75% of travel costs for schools.
