E.B. Colin - Pyrate's Boy
This October we were excited to go on a thrilling pirate adventure with author E.B. Collins and her book Pyrate's Boy to both Bankhead and St Saviour's Primary School in Glasgow.
Pyrate's boy is a dangerously fast paced, historical novel which details the adventures of Silas on his travels from the West Indies to the west coast of Scotland. Life on the high seas isn't easy for Silas and he must overcome many battles, including an encounter with a knifewielding, cartwheeling girl! Together with pirate Black Johnnie they must ouwit their pursuers and find what awaits them in Scotland.
The pupils in both schools had some excellent questions for E.B. Colin including "Do you need special paper to start writing?", "How did you feel when your first book was optioned by Disney?", "Do authors even sleep?!" and "How do you get your inspiration for writing historical novels?". Classes were treated to readings from Pyrate's Boy and then they helped to create two new Pirate characters!
