Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour with Phil Earle

In November, Scottish Book Trust will bring inspirational, award-winning author Phil Earle to meet pupils in Moray, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Perth & Kinross and Angus for an amazing week of school events as part of the Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour 20th Anniversary celebrations!

Mind The Gap Phil EarlePhil didn’t want to be a writer when he grew up, he wanted to be a footballer, a dream tragically ended by Mars bars and Frazzles. He has worked as a care worker and as a bookseller and these two fields inspired him to pursue a career as a writer, the former influencing his books Saving Daisy and Being Billy. Not afraid to tackle difficult and thought-provoking subject matter, Phil is one of the most exciting and engaging writers for young adults. His award winning novels are gritty, powerful and impossible to put down!

Phil’s events will inspire and enthuse pupils about reading and creative writing. The sessions will focus on the stories which surround us every day, and how these stories can provide inspiration for writing. Pupils will gain an insight into why Phil writes, how he constructs believable characters, and how he puts stories together. The sessions will captivate and entertain avid and reluctant readers alike and leave pupils buzzing with ideas for turning their own experiences into stories!

Phil's event are brilliant for all ages and abilities within mainstream education and he also has tons of experience working with children and young people with Additional Support Needs and Special Educational Needs settings.

Phil can tailor his event for a variety specific needs, so please take this into consideration when applying and if you are from an SEN or ASN school and keen for an author to visit your school then do not hesitate to apply or get in touch for further details.
