Illustration Lab 2014
Please note: Applications are now closed.
Scottish Book Trust are pleased to announce the launch of our Illustration Lab 2014.
This exciting short course will offer illustrators in Scotland the chance to deepen their skills and broaden their practical knowledge. The Lab will combine sessions about the illustrator’s craft with practical advice on how to find opportunities and build working relationships.
Led by the leading children’s writer Vivian French and featuring a range of guest speakers that includes illustrators as well as industry professionals, the lab will be a hugely valuable opportunity for people who already have some experience and are looking to make the next step in their careers. It will also be demanding, as over the course of the two days participants will be expected to produce original artwork. Guest speakers will include the acclaimed illustrators Nick Sharratt, Ross Collins, Catherine Rayner and Natalie Russell.
The Lab will include the following:
- Illustrators discussing their careers and answering questions
- Advice from a publishing commissioning editor
- An agent-led discussion on how to pitch your work and build a portfolio
- Informed constructive feedback on your own illustrative work
