News: On the Money

On Tuesday 27th of May, pupils from St Philomena’s Primary School delighted delegates at the launch of the FISAB (Financial Services Advisory Board) annual report with their performance of No Change, one of the stories from On the Money.
The audience included John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, who took the opportunity to chat with the children after their performance. The pupils from St Philomena’s have been involved with the development of On the Money from the very beginning, and were very keen to tell Mr Swinney about every aspect of the project.

This year the FiSAB report showcased On the Money as an example of good practice in the field of financial education and Corporate Responsibility. On the Money is a unique partnership project between Scottish Book Trust, Learning and Teaching Scotland and Standard Life, using stories from some of Scotland’s best children’s authors to convey messages about financial responsibility to children in upper primary school, with the aim of changing attitudes and behaviour around money.
