Edward Ross's headshot

I am a comic creator and graphic novelist with a passion for making complex ideas accessible and interesting. My first graphic novel, Filmish, takes the reader on a tour of film history and theory. My follow-up, Gamish, is a history of video games due out in 2020.

I have also worked with research bodies on short comics sharing cutting edge research in stem cell science, parasitology and climate science. I have run numerous events in recent years and I enjoy bringing my passion for comics to all ages and abilities of people, from school children, to teens and adults. My most sought after events are character creation and comic making workshops, aimed at ages P6-S3.

Workshops present comics as an accessible and engaging form of expression, using a variety of comic creation exercises that encourage participants to experiment and improvise as a means to spark the imagination. Comic creation events can be tailored to the subject matter or interests of a class. I have given talks and workshops on science comic creation, poetry comics and autobiographical comics. I can deliver more complex comic creation workshops for older learners and have experience mentoring teenage comic creators for Scottish Book Trust. (Photo credit: Peter E Ross)
