Flora MacDonald

I am a children's Gaidhlig author .

My first adult novella " Letter from America" was published by Sandstonepress Nov 2007 .It is suitable for advanced learners as well as fluent reader . It has English sub titles . The second one is to be published 2008 by Island Book Trust Lewis .The title is "Hebridean Childhood" It is appropriate as an educational book to study people in the past in schools . I do creative writing for local Primary Schools in the Uist. This is through the medium of Gaidhlig in the medium of poetry, stories and drama . One local poem was sculpted in stone by Edinburgh sculptor and is in the foyer of Iochdar School in South Uist . In Feb 2008 I carried out worshops on the theme "Enchanted Castles" and produced four booklets of the stories . The Borve Castle Mystery was recommended by a pupil in Breasclete School in a Radio Book and it was in the top ten of Gaidhlig books . A pupil from Sleat Primary School recommended it as one of her favourite books in Dec issue of West Highland Free Press Dec 2007.

I now wish to translate the novels for city children

About writer's work

The novels are a series of adventure stories involving four children, two Glasgow children and their two Benbecula cousins . The Borve Castle mystery has been serialised on radio and television. In this book the children discovered missing military papers which have been hidden by spies.
