I have had poetry published in various literary magazines and performed work throughout the UK. Over the past 20 years I have worked extensively with community groups, performance poets, children and recovering addicts and alcoholics.

For me, creative writing is a powerful tool for health and well-being. The imagination can sometimes be a difficult place to access, especially for those recovering from past trauma and addiction. Creative writing opens up a space where people can explore all aspects of who they are and what they can achieve.

I recently developed a four week creative course called Where Are You At? The course incorporates writing, reading, basic drawing and collage. The aim is to support people understand where they are in life and how to move forward in achieving their goals. I launched the course with The Scottish Recovery Consortium where I received great feedback. Recently I have been working with Lapidus Scotland, MissMsMrs, Thenew Housing Association and Create Paisley. The magic is when people share their writing and hear the feedback from the group. When their writing generates discussion the improvement in their self esteem and confidence is visible.
