Moments of Hope: Digital storytelling workshop

We're running a series of free, online digital storytelling workshops as part of our Scotland's Stories: Hope campaign.

Our digital storytelling workshops help people create beautiful videos like the two below. You can browse many more on the Digital Storytelling website(this link will open in a new window). Scotland's Stories: Hope digital storytelling workshops

This year, as part of our Scotland’s Stories: Hope writing campaign, we’re holding a series of free, online storytelling workshops to help you create your own 2–5 minute digital story about hope.

This is a fantastic chance for you to reflect on your own story of hope with a small, supportive group, within a safe online space.

If you're interested in taking part, please register for a free, 30 minute taster session to find out more about the workshops!

What is the goal of the workshops?

You’ll create a 2–5 minute digital story. We recommend watching some digital storytelling examples(this link will open in a new window) for inspiration!

At the end of the workshops, you can publish your story on our website if you want to, but there’s absolutely no obligation to do so.

What will I learn to do?

We’ll help you to:

Don’t worry if you’re a beginner in making a video – we’ll provide all the support you need.

What are the workshops like?

We aim to create a safe, supportive and inspiring environment to help you share your story ideas. You’ll work with a group of a maximum of six other people, and we always encourage group members to give supportive feedback where it is wanted.

Who is the workshop suitable for, and what do I need to take part?

You might want to create a story to share with others: a friend or family member, a community you’re part of, or a wider audience through our website. Some people want to create a story just for the opportunity it brings to reflect on their lives. Others want to learn new skills!

Whatever your motivation, if our theme of hope appeals to you, get in touch and we can tell you more about the workshops.

We’d recommend having a laptop, PC or Mac to take part, as we can provide the maximum available support on those devices. However, many people have taken part on a tablet or mobile device – why not book a taster session and we can discuss your requirements?

How long does the workshop last?

There are six workshops, one per week, each lasting roughly 2 hours. Once we have enough group members, we’ll work with you all to find a time and day that suits everyone each week.

How much does it cost?

Because this is the first time we’ve offered these workshops, this project is a pilot and is being offered for free. We simply ask that you give us feedback to help us shape any future workshops.

Just fill out our quick online form(this link will open in a new window) if you’d like to set up a taster session!

Would you prefer to write your story? We've teamed up with three incredibly talented authors who will be delivering free writing workshops across Scotland to help budding writers to get started with their own pieces. Visit our Scotland's Stories: Hope writing workshops page to find out more.
