Labs: Practical Workshops for Writers

Aimed at writers, poets and comic creators who’re already making a career out of their craft, our twice yearly labs offer opportunities to hone skills and gain new insights into the nuts, bolts and business of writing.

Most labs take place over several days, and while every lab is different, they all ask our participants to dig deep creatively and come prepared to take part in intensive workshops, tasks and discussions.

Previous Labs have covered areas like Marketing Your Work, Screenwriting, Playwriting, Illustration and Writing for Radio. We have worked with partners including BBC Scotland; Playwrights' Studio, Scotland; Dundee University and Literary Dundee. We programme a range of speakers from the industry to provide expert insight and advice to help build participants' knowledge, skills and confidence.

What’s our next lab opportunity?

Our next lab is Surviving as a Freelance Author, on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October 2019 in Edinburgh.
