StoryCon 2018: Scotland's Creative Writing Conference for Teens
Scottish Book Trust is delighted and excited to be bringing StoryCon back for its third year! Designed by teens, for teens, this is Scotland’s biggest free creative writing conference and the jewel of the What’s Your Story? Programme.
StoryCon takes place on Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24 at The Prince’s Trust’s Wolfson Centre in Central Glasgow. Any interested teenager who is resident in Scotland and aged between 13-19 is very welcome to come for one or both days.
This year, these seven teenagers and Scottish Book Trust are programming a 2-day conference full of fantastic workshops delivered by professional writers and illustrators from around Scotland. Writing for Videogames, Illustrating Comics, How to Fight Writer’s Block, How to Plot a Novel, and Writing for Film & TV are just some of the great workshops we have planned. There will also be a lot of pizza!
StoryCon is not just an opportunity to learn new skills, but a chance to meet and get advice from the professionals who create books, plays, poems, films, tv and videogames right here in Scotland. It’s also a chance to meet other creative teens, and build networks and friendships with other writers and illustrators with the same passions and love of reading, writing and illustrating. There’s no charge to attend, so why not check it out?
Our What’s Your Story? Programme is currently fundraising for its next year; if you’d like to hear more about how you could support Scotland’s teen writers & illustrators please do contact our Fundraising Manager Vicki Sampson.
