New Writer Awards 10 Year Celebration Events
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers Award programme. Over the last decade over a hundred authors have been supported with bursaries, writing retreats, mentoring, performance and PR training. Many of the awardees’ books are permanent fixtures in our bookshops, awards shortlists and libraries.This year, we'll be holding a series of celebratory events around the country, starting with our flagship event in Edinburgh this February.
Aberdeen: Waterstones, Thursday 9 May, 18:00 - 19:00
Join four of our awardees for readings and discussions of the trials, tribulations, joys and successes of a writing career. With novellists Wayne Price (Mercy Seat, Furnace) and Helen Sedgwick (The Coment Seekers, Growing Season) as well as young adult writer Christine Laurenson (Dark Business). The trio will be chaired by writer Beth Cochrane and tickets are free, so please do head along.

Novelists Lucy Ribchester (The Hourglass Factory), John Young (Farewell Tour of a Terminal Optimist) and poet Aileen Ballantyne (former Medical Correspondent for The Guardian and The Times), chaired by Olga Wojtas (Miss Blaine’s Prefect and the Golden Samovar).
