James Catchpole

James’ picturebook What Happened to You? (illustrated by Karen George and published by Faber) is closely based on his own experiences as a disabled child. It has sold over 35,000 copies, been shortlisted for national prizes and translated into several languages. The sequel You’re So Amazing! written with his wife Lucy Catchpole, a wheelchair-user, comes out in May 2023. Little, Brown will be publishing them in the US. Both books challenge common narratives around disability and have excellent bottom-gags, too.
