Room on the Broom in Scots and Scottish folklore

James and Lari discuss the rich culture of Scottish folklore and storytelling, Lari shares a wonderful storytelling performance and James reads his Scots translation of Room on the Broom.
If you only do one thing...
Start a word wall (LIT 1-05a, LGL 1-04a, LGL 1-07a, MLAN 1-01c)
Ask pupils to note down any Scots or Gaelic words they hear during the broadcast. If you're not sure of any of the meanings or spellings you can look them up after you've finished watching. You can turn this into a word wall display which you can add to each time you learn a new word. Your word wall could focus on Scots and Gaelic, or you could expand it to include all the different languages spoken in your school!
