I wrote my first novel, The Emergence of Judy Taylor, while working as a full-time psychology lecturer, often tapping away at my keyboard at 3am. It won Edinburgh International Book Festival’s First Book Award in 2014, and was selected as Waterstones Scottish Book of The Year.

In 2017, I created and performed my first one-woman show, The Darling Monologues, at Edinburgh Fringe.

“Talking Heads meets Victoria Wood. Engaging, funny and poignant.”
“Witty, touching and sharply observed.”

Two years later, I did my first stand-up comedy set at Fringe 2019, mainly because the prospect scared the life out of me! I was invited back the next week to headline the show.

My second novel, The Darlings, was published internationally in June 2021, and I’m currently working on two other projects: a podcast script for a US entertainment company, and my second one-woman show.

In addition to writing, I work as a tutor for Open College of the Arts, teaching Creative Writing to degree students.

I love live events, and have never said no to any invitation! I’m happy to talk to groups about any of the above, and the immeasurable benefits of doing stuff that scares you.
