Anne Hamilton's headshot

I am an author, freelance editor, writing coach/mentor and tutor of fiction and creative non-fiction.

My debut novel, The Almost Truth (Legend Press, April 2024) is the first of a two-book deal, with The Island in April forthcoming in spring 2025.

My writing career spans a travel memoir, A Blonde Bengali Wife (which launched the charity Bhola's Children) through to short fiction, most recently featured in Edinburgh One City Trust's anthology, The People's City (Birlinn 2022). I am also the editor of local magazine, Lothian Life, and one-fifth of author Gill Merton - pseudonym for the collaborative novel, Entitled (2022). My fiction has won awards from Creative Scotland and the Irish Novel Fair.

With a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing, I am an associate lecturer with the Open University, marker for the University of Cambridge's MSt, an Edinburgh City Council adult education tutor, and I edit all fiction genres.

An advocate of diversity and inclusivity in writing (and life), I believe everyone should have a voice. My creative workshops - in all aspects of fiction and life-writing - welcome aspiring and experienced writers alike.
