An Inverclyde GP for 32 years. Mainstream and medical journalist. Experienced in press conferences, interviews, master classes, community and women’s group talks on equality, writing, healthy living, complementary medicine safety. (Qualified Homeopath and Acupuncturist)

After a 2003 Oxford Medical Anthropology MSc, focussed on international and historical women’s health issues. Has published (Sparsile/Ringwood) four darkly humorous literary crime novels: the prizewinning Not The Life Imagined (2019) about sixties Scottish medical students: Not The Deaths Imagined (2020) about GPs: The Carnelian Tree (2022) about a newly divorced teacher at Oxford on eve of the Iraq War: Medicine, Money and Murder (2024) about seventies Glasgow female med students encountering commercialised US medicine. Themes include discrimination, mental health/drugs, medical ethics, whistleblowing, NHS life ‘unplugged’ and friendship.

Has spoken at Bloody Scotland 2019 (a ‘Bloody Scotland Spotlight-er’) book launches, signings, Book Festivals e.g. Kilmacolm OK Fest, Aye Write, Book Week Scotland Events e.g., Women in Medicine (2019). Happy to talk/lead discussions on women’s well-being, discrimination, mental health, girls’ autonomy, rights and opportunities, writing topics or reading for health. Lead speaker at International Women’s Day Event in  Inverclyde March 2025.

Anne’s book royalties benefit the charity PlanUK, dedicated to improving children’s education and welfare worldwide.
