BRM (Brian) Stewart's headshot

Brian spent his life working in education in a variety of roles, but is now retired and concentrating on writing. As a result of all of those experiences, he is very comfortable working with groups of young people (though his writing is really only suitable for older teenagers) and adults, as well as addressing larger audiences. Brian is an experienced and effective public speaker, and his keen sense of humour shines through in everything he does. All talks and learning activities are carefully planned and yet allow for different pathways depending on how the audience reacts.

Having self-published two novels and then attracting a publisher for a third, Brian is happy to discuss his road to getting his work out there, along with the creative and editing processes. He particularly enjoys discussing the background to his fiction, especially the technological and historical aspects, and how others can find stimuli for their writing from a variety of situations and sources.

While primarily focused on writing crime fiction, Brian does other writing through the activities and competitions organised by the Angus Writers’ Circle and has had successes with article and short story writing
