Christopher Mackie grew up in a quiet village in Renfrewshire and now lives in Edinburgh with his wife and a hundred imaginary characters who have taken up residence in his imagination. Christopher qualified as a dentist in 2014 and has entertained and treated children in both Forth Valley and Dundee for years. In 2019, he won the Kelpies Prize for Writing and was awarded a mentorship with Floris Books.

Cloudlanders is his first novel. It is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud adventure with a zany cast of characters, exciting twists and turns, and plenty of heart. Christopher has been working with children since 2009 and is an enthusiastic and engaging speaker who aims to make his activities and readings as interactive as possible.

Christopher’s events will focus on creative writing and the thrill of crafting a story with lots of unexpected twists and turns. He offers workshops on creating colourful characters and memorable villains, building a fantastical world from scratch, plotting or pruning your story, and reimagining traditional fairy tales for a new audience. Sessions are designed to be fun and engaging, with a focus on encouraging children to tell their own stories.
