Colette Coen's headshot

I am a writer based in East Renfrewshire with over 50 short story publications, including Mslexia’s Best Short Fiction Anthology 2023, Five Glasgow Stories (Red Squirrel Press) and Writing Magazine.

I am the Federation of Writers (Scotland) Scriever for 2024. I regularly participate in live and online events and produce YouTube videos as part of my role to promote writing in Scotland.

I have twice been shortlisted for Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers Award and won the Waterstones’ Crime in the City Award in 2013. I completed the Faber Academy 'Writing a Novel' course and self-published my first novel – All the Places I’ve Ever Been – as a result. I have also published a short story collection, Forgotten Dreams.

My poetry has appeared in Dreich and Poetry Scotland.

I have worked in community education (with older adults and people experiencing homelessness) and as an Adult Literacy and Numeracy lecturer (using creative writing to enhance literacy and delivering CPD). I have a APDA in Teaching in Further Education. I would be happy to facilitate writing workshops for upper secondary pupils, adults and U3A.

I am a professional member of the Chartered Institute for Editing and Proofreading and run Beech Editorial Services.
