Since my teens I’ve been fascinated with the outdoors, and used to sit in classes at school looking longingly out the windows at distant hills. But I wasn’t allowed to visit them alone, and nobody else I knew was interested. Then one glorious day, without telling anybody, I rode my bike up Glen Fruin and climbed the green sunlit ridge of Beinn a’ Chaorach. At the top a rolling sea of hills unfurled, from Ben Lomond that I recognised to new, unknown ranges. I had to explore just a little further, see the prospect from those distant summits.
I was hooked.
I’ve previously volunteered as a STEM Ambassador in schools and am a Career Ready mentor. And I’d love to talk to you and your people about exploring Scotland in all its forms: whether it is in the form of outdoor pursuits, Scottish history, or by opening our eyes to nature.
