Edward Ross's headshot

Edward Ross is a comic writer and artist who creates comics and graphic novels that make complex ideas easy to understand and fun to engage with. Ever since childhood, when he first stapled sheets of paper together to made a comic out of them, he’s been fascinated by the art form’s power to tell stories and communicate interesting ideas in a fun and accessible way.

His graphic novels Filmish (2015) and Gamish (2020) take the reader on a tour of the history of film and video games respectively. His latest book Graphic Novel Builders: The Illustrated Guide to Making Your Own Comics (2024) is filled with advice and activities aimed at inspiring young people aged 11+ to make their own comic books.

Edward enjoys bringing his passion for comics to all ages and abilities. His workshops present comics as an accessible and enjoyable form of expression that anyone can get involved in, using a variety of comic creation exercises that encourage participants to experiment and improvise as a means to spark the imagination. Events can also be tailored to current class topics or wider themes, for example he has run workshops on science comics, poetry comics and autobiographical comics.
