Emily MacKenzie's headshot

Emily Mackenzie is the author and illustrator of four children's picture books published by Bloomsbury Publishing (Wanted! Ralfy, Rabbit Book Burglar, Stanley the Amazing Knitting Cat, There's Broccoli in my Ice Cream and Eric Makes a Splash!) and has also illustrated a children's fiction series written by Chris Higgins (Trouble Next Door, Trouble at School and Trouble on the Farm). Emily's books have been published in several different languages, and she has been on the shortlist twice for the Bookbug Picture Book Prize.

As a result this has brought some wonderful opportunities for visiting schools, book festivals, libraries and bookshops regularly across the UK reading her books to children (mostly P1/P2 age group) and hosting workshops ranging from craft based activities with small groups and classes to character drawing workshops with up to 200 children at once. Using mostly watercolour inks, coloured pencil and crayons, Emily's playful work draws from her childhood memories, everyday observations and love of colour. (Photo credit: Diana Pappas)
