I'm an award-winning writer of speculative fiction and nonfiction, and an experienced editor, diversity consultant and workshop facilitator.
My nonfiction books, They/Them/Their and Ace Voices, are educational titles focusing on LGBTQ+ communities (nonbinary trans and asexual-spectrum) to which I myself belong. As an authenticity reader, I offer writers and publishers feedback on their stories' representation of queer and transgender characters. In 2023 I was shortlisted for an IPSE freelancer award in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion category for this work. I was also a member of the 2024 Literature Alliance Scotland Writers Advisory Group. I'm an open book and happy to answer questions and discuss my experiences as a queer and transgender person.
My fiction, all of it in the sci-fi, fantasy and horror genres, has appeared in publications across the UK and beyond, won the British Fantasy Society short story competition, and been longlisted for both a Cheshire Novel Prize for works-in-progress and a BSFA award for best short story. I'm also fiction editor at Shoreline of Infinity, Scotland's sci-fi magazine.
I've spoken on author panels and run creative writing workshops at festivals across Scotland, including Edinburgh International Book Festival, Cymera, Paisley Book Festival and Granite Noir.
