After 23 years teaching, mostly English, I learned what bits of books pupils skipped, and how to avoid them. I've talked to student teachers, history teachers, school pupils aged 5-18, from groups of 5-800.
I talk on Books are Magic! preferences for a minimum of one hour, but prefer two hours+ in library or classroom with 20-100 people - I can cope with most things and be flexible around this.
Most of my books include a character disadvantaged mentally or physically, often as hero - or villain. Books are mostly, but not all, historical adventure fiction, as historically accurate as possible, for young adults.
I'll travel anywhere, but if I'm away overnight, organise me more than one talk, please!
