Based on the Isle of Skye, I am a writer of historical fiction with a profound sympathy for the underdog. My first three published novels comprise The Richard Davey Chronicles. They see my main character abandon his unfulfilling life by immersing himself in the dynastic tribulations of the early nineteenth century.

I am close to completing a three-timeline ghost story centred on Hadrian’s Wall and a voluminous biography entitled Captain Liar & the Forgotten Flag.

I value accurate historical detail but yearn for adventure so enjoy dropping my characters into unexpected and challenging situations. I am as happy discussing the niceties of plot development as I am reading from my works or discussing the pitfalls of research.

As a former history teacher, I enjoy appearing live and have appeared at a range of literary events in both Scotland and further afield. I am very happy appearing alone but also relish appearing on panels and as part of a themed event.
