Gill White's headshot

Gill is a St Andrews-based author who writes rhyming stories for children.

Her first book - Leo and the Lightning Dragons - was written for her son Leo, who suffers from epilepsy. An “awareness-raising tale of resilience” (The Herald, 20th April 2019) the book draws on the family’s experiences with various professionals involved in Leo’s care to create a kingdom of people all trying to help the brave knight fight his dragons.

Gill has worked with primary schools and nurseries, libraries, festivals, book shops and community organisations. Her events can be tailored to suit large or small groups and are great fun for children of all abilities, with storytelling that engages the children throughout, sensory props which help bring the story to life, music, colouring in, drawing and crown making.

Gill’s is also able to run events for children and adults with additional support needs. She is happy to sign the book in Makaton and has worked with PAMIS (Promoting a More Inclusive Society) to develop the book as a multi-sensory story for those with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities).
