John Young's headshot

John won a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award in 2013 and his first novel, Farewell Tour of a Terminal Optimist, was launched in 2017. It has gone on to be listed for many awards including Branford Boase, Southern Schools Book Awards, Cheshire Schools Book Awards and won the Scottish Teenage Book Prize 2019. John helped set up The Teapot Trust charity to provide art therapy to chronically ill children in hospitals around Scotland and now the whole of UK. He is a vocal advocate of the power of creativity - without good mental health our physical health suffers too. (Photo credit: Christina Kernohan)
