I'm passionate about stories: finding, researching, telling, reading and writing stories. I'm passionate about sharing my love of stories and my enthusiasm for what happens next. When I talk to a room (or hall, theatre, tent, cave) full of children, I say I'm not the only writer there, we're all writers because we all have unique imaginations.

I was brought up in the rural North East of Scotland, and that outdoor childhood inspires the quests, ambushes and chases in the adventure novels I write for 8-12 yr olds (including the Fabled Beast Chronicles and Spellchasers Trilogy). I've also written picture books for younger readers, a teen thriller, and retellings of myths, legends and folktales.

I can chat about stories with lots of different ages. I'm happy to do hour-long author events, during which I'd probably introduce my books, encourage the audience to exercise their own imaginations, then tell a traditional tale, to show how we can use old tales to create new fiction. I'm also happy to do longer writing workshops, and extended projects involving more sessions and leading to finished pieces of writing. I'm also happy to discuss your specific requirements and adapt my events to suit.

Lari is currently working round the symptoms of long covid. She is still very keen to share stories, but has to limit the number of events she says yes to.
