The Badger series of books subtly addresses, with humour, issues such as bullying, disability and prejudice. Friendship and self-belief is at the core of all the books.

"Pitch perfect subtlety and wit" - Shari Low

"A fun, fast-paced romp of a read for younger readersterrific stuff!" - Cathy Cassidy

McNicol and Jackson are available for one hour sessions with P1-4. This includes a 20 minute reading, music and performance including live magic and giant maraccas from their costume character, Badger the Mystical Mutt, and a Q&A session. Reluctant readers particularly seem to engage with Badger live and in the fur.

Badger works best with large audiences, up to 300+, in a hall with a projector and screen (for powerpoint presentation of illustrations). He can work equally well with audiences of 50, as long as he has plenty of room to manoeuvre and perform his magic tricks. Publisher of the Badger books, The Lunicorn Press, was recently a shortlisted Regional Finalist in the Small Press of the Year category for the British Book Awards 2019. (Photo credit: Alan Peebles)
