Lynn Davidson's headshot

I write poetry, memoir, essays and fiction. My memoir Do You Still Have Time for Chaos? was published by Te Herenga Waka University Press in 2024. My latest poetry collection Islander explores the connections between Aotearoa New Zealand and Scotland.

I am from Aotearoa New Zealand, now resident in Edinburgh. I have taught creative writing in a broad range of learning spaces, from Melbourne University to community-based courses, and with a wide diversity of ages and backgrounds. Inclusivity and equality of opportunity are at the heart of my writing and teaching.
I am a Hawthornden Fellow and the recipient of a Bothy Project Residency. I won the Poetry New Zealand Poetry Award 2020. I have performed at book festivals, most recently with events around my memoir at the Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of the Arts and the Auckland Writers Festival. I belong to, and perform with, the women’s writing collective, 12. My preoccupations include islands, place, feminism, women’s history, connection and belonging. I have I have a PhD on poetic repetition in the work of Kathleen Jamie and Jackie Kay.(Photo credit: Ebony Lamb)
