Breathing life into Scotland's past. I write historical fiction set during the 16th century Scottish reformation and am currently editing the last book of a trilogy based on the Reformer, John Knox. I am also known by Dr Marie Gilroy.

I have given numerous illustrated talks on historical topics to local societies, clubs and groups and have taken part in panel discussions about historical fiction. I also regularly contribute articles to historical publications and blogs.

Events have included: Scotland's History Festival, Book Week Scotland, Cockenzie House Book Festival, Write by the Shore! Haddington Festival's Write On! and Blackwell's Writers at the Fringe.

I am available to give illustrated talks and give readings from my work. I am currently working on the launch of The Last Blast of the Trumpet which will include a performance of 16th century music and song. (Photo credit: Cameron McVean)
