A former English teacher and lecturer in creative writing, Martin Stewart has been a full-time writer for nearly ten years. The Bridget Vanderpuff series, published by Zephyr, is his middle-grade debut. His previous work, for young adults, was published by Penguin, and nominated for several national awards. His adult debut, Double Proof, launches with Polygon in March 2024. Martin’s work has been published internationally, and translated into nine languages.

Martin has extensive experience of delivering events in schools and other venues, including several school residencies for Scottish Book Trust. His sessions are varied and engaging, helping promote reading for pleasure and the pursuit of creative ambition. These fun events contain details about his books, characters, and inspirations, along with a reading and Q&A.

Martin's years in the classroom, combined with his experience of publishing across different genres and age-ranges, have given him a unique insight into the writing process for young learners. He has extensive experience of delivering workshops across upper primary, BGE and national qualifications, which empower learners to feel confident in their creative writing and quickly produce work that is considered, entertaining and uniquely theirs.
